Joint TFBHC and ERI SEE Cluster of Knowledge: Modernizing VET system – improving performance, quality and attractiveness of VET

Events:
21. June 2012 - 22. June 2012
Location:
Bucharest, Romania

The 3rd workshop was held on 21 - 22 June, 2012 in Bucharest, Romania, as a further step in already initiated peer learning process within the VET Cluster of knowledge.

The workshop gathered the representatives of the VET institutions from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia as well as the representative of the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the Centre for Education Policy as the Interim Agency of the ERI SEE.

The cluster on Modernizing VET system is envisaging to organize a number of expert meetings and to develop mechanisms and instruments in order to implement, at a school level, a quality culture and to allow an increasing attractiveness of VET as a training pathway, which ensures equal opportunities for students and the skills which are needed on the existing and future labour market. The cluster is inviting participants to exchange on specific issues, e.g. quality assurance and matching VET supply with labour market demand, in order to allow the development of concerted tools, to enhance mutual trust and to learn from each other.

The cluster shall play a crucial role in implementing Europe 2020 with its key flagship initiatives that embrace education and training (Youth on the Move and The Agenda New Skills and Jobs) under the TFBHC and ERI SEE support.

Concrete thematic cluster subtopics, activities and funding option were identified by representatives of SEE region and initial cluster consortium was established on the occasion of the two meetings held in 2011 (kick-off meeting in Bucharest on 30-31 May, and regional workshop in Vienna on 24-25 November).

In order to move towards the finalization of the Compendium of best practices as the envisaged Cluster output, the objectives of the 3rd workshop were to collect and agree on the good practices examples identified by each country (which were implemented through projects or other initiatives and which already have good results which deserve to be known by other countries).

The workshop was organized by the National Centre for the Vocational Education Training Development – NCTVETD with the support of the ERI SEE.
